Elephant Journal: Love in time of Covid (Love Poem)

Elephant Journal love poem, love in time of covid

Elephant Journal is a platform I published with back in 2016 when I wrote some prose about simple pleasures such as being in Happy Baby pose during a yoga class.

Read it here: Lessons learned in Happpy Baby pose; Let your life fall apart

For Valentine’s day this year (2021) I felt this urge to write a love prose for my partner as a surprise since he was at work for the majority of the day.

Luckily his birthday is the 15th and he was scheduled to have that day off.

I calculated to have it brought to his attention by tagging him on facebook with the link, the moment he walks through the door as a surprise.

The Secrets of Scorpio (They’re actually like Pokemon)

The Secrets of Scorpio

Scorpio is a favourite sign of mine

I am a Scorpio rising and I have Scorpio in my Mercury so whilst I’m not an actual Scorpio-I do share some traits

What people don’t realize about the archetype of Scorpio is that it’s a very sensitive and vulnerable sign. Like Cancerians with the tough outer shell but soft centre, Scorpios (scorpions) protect their softness inside their exoskeleton as armour and their famous sting is their sword. How they use this power is what we’re discussing here.

So lets look at the Secrets of Scorpio

There are actually 4 types of Scorpios-they’re basically like pokemon-evolving by shedding their karma and maturing.

Represented by the life-death cycle, Scorpios have more karma to let go of than any other sign-hence why when they nip-they cling to emotions and find it hard to let go and that is their greatest life lesson- to surrender and let go with love.

Women’s Circles: Yogi Approved

Here is my latest article with Yogi Approved. This is my last written peice for them until next year. I have ideas for future articles however I am now working on an illustrated poetry book. Enjoy!

Women’s circles are essentially a gathering of women, for women.

They’re often practiced within a circular setting, using a decorative altar or mandala as the focal point in the middle. These circles feel inclusive and mimic the cycles of nature and the comfort of the womb space.

While women’s gatherings have been around for thousands of years, they have gained popularity recently – especially in the yoga and wellness community.

What Are Women’s Circles?

Women’s circles allow for sharing, support, and feelings of safety within a non-judgemental environment.

It can be very healing to experience validation and to feel honored by other women, especially in a world where women are often taught to compete with each other, compare bodies and status, be jealous, gossip, judge, etc.

What it really means to be a Libra

what it really means to be a Libra, star sign personality

Libra: Surprisingly a quirky sign. On the surface people assume that these people are always balanced, perhaps a little superficial or self centred, calm, friendly and even tempered-this is what you read in magazine astrology which is usually inaccurate.”Everyone loves a Libra” is a common phrase as oppose to Scorpio who sadly get a bad rep.

Libras are the Will Smith’s and Kate Winslet’s of the zodiac: Usually well loved by every other sign (if in balance with their emotions)

yet Libras are surprisingly picky and private as to who they truly let in to their inner circle.

Like an Aquarius, they can have loads of aquaintences who adore them and their charm, which Libras are famous for, but deep down most Libras only have a select few as chosen “soul friends” for life, unlike Aquarius who will continue to be friends with everyone.

It is an air sign so most Librans adore conversation and intellect but it has to have depth, Librans need witty debates and talks about art, poetry, culture and more.

Illustrated Poetry book pages

I’ve been saying for a few years that I am putting together a poetry collection. But because I am not a full time writer, the process takes a bit longer. I am still editing older poems and creating new ones too. Including short stories.

The theme is our relation to nature in and around us. This includes the psyche of our subconscious- the raw emotions that feel feral and the almost child-like mysticism that comes from remembering our connectedness to the natural world.

The poetry will flit from personal musings to magical realist prose. Some poetry will feel like diary accounts with an air of vulnerability and gritty thoughts, others will boarder on whimsical and surreal. These represent the two strong personas living within me.

Life just got a little sweeter

At the beginning of lockdown 2020, I went to live with my beloved in Liverpool. After six years living in Plymouth then spending most of 2019 abroad, I planned to settle in my hometown of Blackpool again to figure out the next chapter of my life. The Universe had other plans…

The moment I walked back through the doors of my childhood home in October 2019, the week of my 34th birthday (hoping for a few months pitstop), I realized being there was a big mistake and I wished to magically grow wings and fly back to Cyprus. However I endured the life lessons thrown at me for a spell.

A few weeks later I met Craig and fell in love. I have never fell so hard about anyone before. By his birthday in February we made a joint decision for me to move in with him (partially). And we’ve not look back.

Pisces Full Harvest Moon

It is currently the Pisces full moon.

Pisces is a sign of dreams, misdirection, illusion and forgetfulness. If you think of the sign of Pisces-it is a symbol of two fish swimming in opposite directions- I once knew someone with Pisces Sun and Gemini moon- this person was no picnic-absolute confusion, constantly changing their mind, it was like living with a washing machine.

Pisces also represents unconditional love, gentleness, deep emotions and connecting to the other realms/subconscious mind.

Before our current age of Aquarius, ancient civilizations were in the age of Pisces-hence why there is a cloak of intrigue and mysticism attached to ancient history, many things from thousands of years ago are lost to us, or half discovered-hence it was known as the age of forgetfulness.

Art Journal Flip Through

I started keeping journals when I was about 13 when a relative gifted me Anne Frank’s Diary. When in college I moved onto art journals upon the discovery of Dan Elden’s journals. I now manage this lifestyle blog as a sort of online diary of everything.
These journals were made during my mid-late 20’s. Some of the pages were quite dark as I was struggling quite a bit with anxiety and depression from childhood trauma and abuse from a previous partnership.

I now keep nature journals but do plan on making more collages for my up coming poetry book AND I am considering creating a class on skill share?

When I am not belly dancing, teaching yoga or traveling I make journals, dream catchers and nature illustrations. Living a creative life is very important to me. Continue reading
