Opening the Heart Door

There is a diamond inside of me, that lights up the sky of my sou. You’re opening the heart door, letting in the light, opening the heart door, giving life to me that died.-Paula Cole

The New Moon in Cancer is harmonized by the Water Element and the Fire Element of the Summer Solstice Sun so think of the warmth of the sea on your summer vacations.

Cancer governs the sacred space of the womb. This is your memories of your experience in utero, being born, and growing up in your family’s home. The Cancer New Moon is called “Mother’s Daughter Moon” and invites you to bring forth the energy of your childhood nurturing. This vibration can open up wounds from childhood where you did not receive the nurturing that you needed and your relationship with your mother was not an easy one. Continue reading

Super Scorpio Flower Moon

In the pain, there is healing, So I’m holding on.-Lifehouse

Beltane and Full Flower Moon Blessings beautiful beings!

Today is the super full moon in Scorpio during Taurus season. This makes for an intriguing time. Taurus is ruled by Aphrodite who governs beauty, sensuality and harmony. Taurus is an earth sign so coupled with the goddess of love you think of earthly pleasures, eating strawberries surrounded by wildflowers naked in the sun! Bring Scorpio into the mix and you may have some friction. Scorpio is the sign of sex, death and rebirth.

Ruled by Hades the full moon in Scorpio reflects our shadow side creeping to the surface (since the moon reflects the sun) as we try to enjoy the flowers, fruit and harmony that traditionally this flower moon is supposed to bring. This makes sense when you look at current affairs globally. We want to enjoy the beautiful pleasures this month brings but this supermoon also conjoures up and feeds on a lot of fear, suspicion, manipulation, jealousy, death and self destruction on a global scale. The good news is, Scorpio is also about rebirth, out of the ashes we can rise and create new life. This full Scorpio moon is telling us, things are dark now but soon all this will blow over and we can fully enjoy the flowers again! This super moon is going to amplify your darker and repressed part of ourselves on all levels but they need to come into the light in order for the rebirth to place. Continue reading

Find the Place in Your Heart

Find the place in your heart that your flowers grow tallest and water yourself there. Follow your passions like bees to nectar, meet your truth in the things you love.

I have been quiet on social media for a while as I’ve been creating free content such as PDFs on my blog and recorded meditations on soundcloud. I am not finished yet but when it’s all ready, I’ll post it here. I was trying to think of ways I can help people right now, during this difficult time (Covid-19).  I don’t have the space to teach yoga online and to be honest I personally feel uncomfortable showing my face in that way, you’ve probably noticed I dislike selfies and prefer photos of me surrounded by nature instead, this is my happy place and people get to see the surrounding beauty to focus on too.

When I am teaching in the future, I will always have donation classes and one free spot for those who are struggling but would love to experiance a workshop or retreat. My teachers have done this for me and I want to give back this way too. But until then, all my things are packed away in boxes so I am unable to make things like masks and my camera is also packed away too and I have no editing program on my laptop. I thought well, I’ve been told people love my words, my poems, my random semi-wise thoughts and my calming voice so I’ll create poetic visual journeys and meditations! And they will be absolutely free.

Embodying and Becoming an Earth Mama

Photography by Jean Manuel

Definition: A female who embodies the ‘yin’ energy. She is nurturing, kind, gentle, loving, and soulful–often going with a more natural Earthy look rather than a glam one.

I’ve always been the good girl, followed the rules and tried to do as I’m told. Followed orders, was a well behaved daughter, the perfect student and obedient girlfriend. It didn’t amount to anything good. All that came of this was allowing others to take away my choices, wants and desires. I felt unheard and invalidated and so my throat chakra closed down. I’ve repressed a lot of who I truly am and what I truly want. I became submissive. For so long I’ve been told what I want doesn’t matter, or I’ve been told to wait and it will be given to me by someone else. The past Katie would nod her head in agreement of the individual’s opinions and so called reasonings. Now I’ve come to realise, a lot has been taken from me and I allowed it because I thought that being dutiful and good and pure would amount to a happy life.

A friend once called me a bird of paradise being treated like a caged common budgie. It’s so hard to heal this wound in my throat and in my heart. To stand my ground and say with fierce conviction: you have no power over me.

Interview with Joanna Lewins with Rebelle Society

My latest article is up with Rebelle Society!
This is in honour of my Reiki teacher, giving back the love she gave me. Joanna Lewins really inspired me and my training with her was not part of my original plans, it just magically happened. She, by chance happened to be in Bali the same time as me and was offering a last minute reiki level 2 round the corner from where I was staying and on the day I was meant to fly back to the U.K.
the decision to follow my heart and intuition changed my life AND changed how I view life. If I had not followed my heart I’d have been back in the Uk earlier, not gone to Australia and not gone on to become a reiki master teacher and not gone on to develop a passion in researching more about shamanism, ancient priestesses and mysticism.
Jo is one of three teachers who’ve inspired my path.
This woman is utterly wonderful and I consider her a mermaid soul sister

“When one is attuned into the Reiki lineage, it’s like receiving a beautiful blessing from above, and is done as a short and sacred ritual that stays with you for life. It really is a gift. To be able to tune into this infinite source, to be able to give yourself hands on healing, is truly one of the greatest things you can do for yourself. It allows you to open up as a channel to receive the light to move through you, and ignites your soul. When you work with your energy body, you’re tapping in on a cellular level, that also influences your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies, so it’s all encompassing and connected. It doesn’t take much to have a deeply powerful experience. Yummy, right?” ~ Joanna Lewins, Reiki Master Teacher

Jo Lewins is a British-born Reiki Master Teacher, water healing therapist, and yoga teacher who has bundles of knowledge on crystal healing, massage and shamanic journeying among other talents. Continue reading

When people judge you

When ignorant people tell me I don’t practice yoga, it’s because they only want to see the “yoga” in fitness classes. When ignorant people see me practice the yoga they recognise, I’m suddenly the pretty girl in the picture doing a shallow yoga selfie that triggers others to feel bad about themselves and I’m probably vain and wasting time when I “should” be doing something society deems more important? So these two opinions are conflicting and hypocritical- which one do you think I am then? Continue reading

I choose myself

“What does it actually mean to choose You? In each moment to have your own back. It’s a dropping of the need to be chosen by anyone else because ultimately when we choose ourself a fullness is rediscovered that no outside filling could ever have filled anyway. Imagine that every love song written signifies you singing to you, longing for you, missing you. How does it feel to choose you? In each moment, no matter what, to keep showing up for yourself. What does that actually feel like?”- Meghan Currie

Choosing myself means being strict with what I will allow in my life. I will not tolerate any form of bullshit and the bullshit excuses to match, anymore. I think in my younger years I was very quick to forgive and very quick to say “We’re only human, we all make mistakes” and whilst this is still true, my softness towards wrong doings encouraged people to get away with mistreating me over and over again. The smallest wrong doing would be swept under the rug until it festered and became something bigger, and its in those moments I realized I should have listened to my intuition from the very beginning, because it is always right- yet for a really long time I’d question if my gut feelings were correct, in the end it was always too late and I’ve been decieved or emotionally manipulated yet again. Yuletide Blessings and Gratitude

Yuletide blessings everyone!
This year has been a dream come true for me, 2019 has been a year full of good things rather than bad for a change. I surrendered to the universe which I had never done before and it was scary but so exhilarating!
It was a year of healing, growth, learning self love and trusting in people again. I’ve met incredible women on this journey who’ve guided me and nourished me with their love and wisdom and they’ve shown me what I’m capable of. Thank you to Jenny Sharada for your teachings on Vedanta and the sacred feminine, thank you to Nicole Mahabir for your teachings on Ayurveda (Ayu-Yog) and mysticism, thank you to Joanna Lewins for teaching me more about energy healing and working shamanically. These three women inspire me to become a teacher like them- gentle, quietly confident, loving, empathic and full of diverse knowledge- proper witchy wise women! I’ve always wanted to be this way but past circumstances (and negative people) clipped my wings. Seeing these three women step into their beauty and their power and encouraged me to do the same has made me see I can do that too, they believed in me and truly saw me for who I am.
Thank you to all the friends who’ve let me stay in their homes, one day I will return the favour- I’ve made a promise to myself that my home will be open and full of love, there will always be a spare bed and plenty of food. If you want to visit or if you need me, I’ll be here for you.
There is a massive list of people I want to thank but I’m scared to miss anyone out. So I’ll just say I’m truly grateful for all the fantastic people in my life. Continue reading

Reiki Article with Yogi Approved

“The word reiki is a Japanese word for “universal life force energy.” But what is reiki, exactly?

Reiki is a subtle energy therapy, commonly practiced by light touch or “layering on of hands,” either gently on the body (if patient allows) or slightly above it, bringing the hands within the auric field and other koshas (which are the 5 sheaths of the aura that are like layers of an onion of the subtle body).

In essence, reiki is the practice of administering an unseen “life force” energy (also known as prana) that flows from the universal life force, through the crown chakra and out from the hands (which act as portals) for the reiki (life force energy) to stream through to the person receiving the treatment.”

I haven’t written for Yogi Approved in a long time and they’ve asked me to write more about the Chakras, Reiki and Crystal healing in the near future so watch this space! Continue reading
