My best friend Nic and I ventured to Padiham for a mini break together. We hadn’t seen each other since Bali in February. Our time together was short, we only had 3 days and 2 nights but we crammed so much into what time we had, that it felt special and meaningful. Every night we were going to sleep at 3am in the morning because we had so much to discuss and on the last night we gave each other a healing session, Nic gave me an Ayurvedic massage and I gave her a Reiki treatment. Both of us brought crystals, our altars, our oracle cards, essential oils and our current favourite witchy books.
Staying at the Lawrence hotel was a lovely experience. This hotel is quirky and quaint, the staff and owner are so lovely, always smiling and going out of their way to make you feel at home. We then went for a walk to a local park and Gawthorpe Hall which is a beautiful stately home that looks like it came straight out of a fairytale book.
Nic wanted to take photos of me on the grounds of this estate and the end result are these three striking photos that look very magical realist and has inspired a short story.
It was a beautiful rainy day and we laid down on the ground together to watch the trees blow in the wind.
What I love about spending time with Nic is that I feel free to be myself, my inner child and her imagination can come out to play and in a world that’s so heavy and hard at times, adults need that safe place too where we can play make believe and see magic all around. It’s refreshing and good for the soul.
Have a go at forest bathing sometime and make up silly characters and imaginary friends and see what happens!
This short break was just what we both needed, Nic wanted to get out of Liverpool and I needed time away from Blackpool. Both of us felt a little overwhelmed with heavy things happening in our personal lives so a best friend mini adventure is exactly what we needed.
