Embodying the Lion

Not that long ago it was the lions gate portal and the Leo new moon. In Islam we are in Muharram which is the first month of the Islamic calendar. In the Vedic calendar this is a Jyotish new moon.

This is a very auspicious time for manifestation and prayer and to feel with your whole body-mind what is sacred to you in relation to the heavens?

What are you manifesting and what do you wish to do to cultivate and deepen your knowing, to deepen your practice to feel whole as part of the universe?

Sometimes embodying the lion doesn’t always mean to be fierce and brash. Lions are symbolic of patience, rest, surrender and divine timing. As well as self worth- reminding ourselves we are kings and queens of our lives for we are part of the great macrocosm.

Balance action with rest; and manifestation with surrender. There is divine timing with divine call to action. A lion does not hunt every day. A lion is not courageous every day. Patience and silence is key to listening to your heart and to divine guidance.

The lion is a very diverse symbol. Its most common traits are: majesty, strength, courage, justice, and military might. It can be both solar and lunar. Commonly reffered to as “the king of the beasts,” it is a symbol of Kingly power and might, but as the lioness it is commonly related to the Great Mother and protection.

Pagans notice that the Hawthorn trees are abundant with red berries now. These berries contain the five pointed star of the mother goddess. Hawthorn berries contain medicine for the heart. Tune into that frequency when manifesting from your heart connecting to the cosmic heartbeat of the universe. Like the big heart of a lion beating with integrity and warmth.

Enjoy Hawthorn berry tea or dandelion tea during this time. Journalling and Nadi Shodhana (subtle energy breathwork) is great for clearing and calming the mind.

Crystals for the Lions gate portal: Tigers eye, pyrite, Lemurian quartz, or citrine.

Consider the quote “All that we are is a result of all that we have thought.”- Buddha
