My Altar, My Heart Space

Here is a recent altar I have created- this is a peak into my heart. It was my time with the Be Woman Project and my teacher Sharada who encouraged me to follow my heart and be true to myself. It is the trainings with the Be Woman Project that helped me know my magic again.
I’ve been creating altars since I was about 13, I’d use trinkets and natural objects with photos to decorate on a shelf in my room and I’ve been creating altars ever since.

I have a sweet memory of my mum coming to me with a small black bowl and said “My little water fountain has broke so I had to throw it away, thought you might want to use the bowl as a cauldron?”

Even though she didn’t understand what I was doing because we are from a Roman Catholic family. She still gave me that bowl as her way of telling me she accepts that part of me ( to some degree).

My spirituality is very grounded and earthy. Everything you see on the table are simply symbolic of memories and happy thoughts. It is my little place of refuge, my temple. When times are rough, I just sit by an altar and I’m reminded of my self worth, loved ones, sacred beauty, my travels, my dreams and much more.

I do not “worship” all these things. They are representations of what already resides in me and out in the world. As above so below.

Day Dreamy Days: The Musings of HedgeWitch

During this strange time, its so easy to feel complacent or turn to keeping busy. But lets go within for a second: Its not so much about doing (or doing nothing) but about creating space for a kind of interaction to happen from within the body-mind. It’s about deciding you are going to open that space in your life, and really create an altar in your life (and heart) as a whole, and then tending to the temple within for the magic to happen.

This tattoo reminds me to do this, to be wild and free, to know love and be present like flowers and to be grounded to the earth like the scarab.
I love day dreaming, to help me tune in. It is  being in a state of presence- between this world and the other, of being in a state of quiet awareness and contemplation. This goes beyond going outside and just thinking about things, its about letting go of agenda and the ego, and simply experiancing, and this can happen in any landscape. This is about making time to be with the world as it lives and breathes, its about being in its consciousness and experiencing its medicine. Continue reading

Interview with Joanna Lewins with Rebelle Society

My latest article is up with Rebelle Society!
This is in honour of my Reiki teacher, giving back the love she gave me. Joanna Lewins really inspired me and my training with her was not part of my original plans, it just magically happened. She, by chance happened to be in Bali the same time as me and was offering a last minute reiki level 2 round the corner from where I was staying and on the day I was meant to fly back to the U.K.
the decision to follow my heart and intuition changed my life AND changed how I view life. If I had not followed my heart I’d have been back in the Uk earlier, not gone to Australia and not gone on to become a reiki master teacher and not gone on to develop a passion in researching more about shamanism, ancient priestesses and mysticism.
Jo is one of three teachers who’ve inspired my path.
This woman is utterly wonderful and I consider her a mermaid soul sister

“When one is attuned into the Reiki lineage, it’s like receiving a beautiful blessing from above, and is done as a short and sacred ritual that stays with you for life. It really is a gift. To be able to tune into this infinite source, to be able to give yourself hands on healing, is truly one of the greatest things you can do for yourself. It allows you to open up as a channel to receive the light to move through you, and ignites your soul. When you work with your energy body, you’re tapping in on a cellular level, that also influences your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies, so it’s all encompassing and connected. It doesn’t take much to have a deeply powerful experience. Yummy, right?” ~ Joanna Lewins, Reiki Master Teacher

Jo Lewins is a British-born Reiki Master Teacher, water healing therapist, and yoga teacher who has bundles of knowledge on crystal healing, massage and shamanic journeying among other talents. Continue reading
