The Warrior of Light Dream Catcher

This is a beautiful happy hoop to help boost those difficult days! “Warrior of Light” is here to inspire joy and radiate happiness in the present moment. A protective talisman for a warrior promoting lightness of being and being a shining light for others. Be present, feel the sun that is shining, dance and hear the birds singing, watch the trees, kiss under the stars, be grateful, be loving, be true to your heart.

I made this for my partner Craig on the 22nd of December and I also did a blessing ceremony for it on that day too. Did not realise until later that it was made on the 22nd (which is a special number in numerology). It is blessed with sage and rose incense, with Reiki, and the Shiva mantra Om Namah Shivaya. (Shiva is one of the three main gods in Hinduism. Shiva is an embodiment of ultimate space of enlightenment. Shiva is known as the destroyer god because he removes all evil from the world, he is depicted with a crescent moon, he is also depicted dancing around a ring of fire. Craig is a beam of light in a harsh world and he also loves to dance, this is why I connect him with Shiva. Continue reading

I choose myself

“What does it actually mean to choose You? In each moment to have your own back. It’s a dropping of the need to be chosen by anyone else because ultimately when we choose ourself a fullness is rediscovered that no outside filling could ever have filled anyway. Imagine that every love song written signifies you singing to you, longing for you, missing you. How does it feel to choose you? In each moment, no matter what, to keep showing up for yourself. What does that actually feel like?”- Meghan Currie

Choosing myself means being strict with what I will allow in my life. I will not tolerate any form of bullshit and the bullshit excuses to match, anymore. I think in my younger years I was very quick to forgive and very quick to say “We’re only human, we all make mistakes” and whilst this is still true, my softness towards wrong doings encouraged people to get away with mistreating me over and over again. The smallest wrong doing would be swept under the rug until it festered and became something bigger, and its in those moments I realized I should have listened to my intuition from the very beginning, because it is always right- yet for a really long time I’d question if my gut feelings were correct, in the end it was always too late and I’ve been decieved or emotionally manipulated yet again. Yuletide Blessings and Gratitude

Yuletide blessings everyone!
This year has been a dream come true for me, 2019 has been a year full of good things rather than bad for a change. I surrendered to the universe which I had never done before and it was scary but so exhilarating!
It was a year of healing, growth, learning self love and trusting in people again. I’ve met incredible women on this journey who’ve guided me and nourished me with their love and wisdom and they’ve shown me what I’m capable of. Thank you to Jenny Sharada for your teachings on Vedanta and the sacred feminine, thank you to Nicole Mahabir for your teachings on Ayurveda (Ayu-Yog) and mysticism, thank you to Joanna Lewins for teaching me more about energy healing and working shamanically. These three women inspire me to become a teacher like them- gentle, quietly confident, loving, empathic and full of diverse knowledge- proper witchy wise women! I’ve always wanted to be this way but past circumstances (and negative people) clipped my wings. Seeing these three women step into their beauty and their power and encouraged me to do the same has made me see I can do that too, they believed in me and truly saw me for who I am.
Thank you to all the friends who’ve let me stay in their homes, one day I will return the favour- I’ve made a promise to myself that my home will be open and full of love, there will always be a spare bed and plenty of food. If you want to visit or if you need me, I’ll be here for you.
There is a massive list of people I want to thank but I’m scared to miss anyone out. So I’ll just say I’m truly grateful for all the fantastic people in my life. Continue reading

This is the practice: Keeping the heart wide open

This is the practice: Keeping the heart wide open even when the path becomes tremulous and every possibility appears at first glance stormy and unwelcoming. The dead, decaying parts of ourselves must be shed so that we can grow, and this growth takes us deeper into our unknowns. Sometimes growth feels good and other times the process leaves us wrecked and wondering. And this is where belief enters the narrative …. do we trust it or do we doubt ourselves? Continue reading

Stoke Your Agni, and Celebrate Your Inner Radiance: Article with Rebelle Society

This is my final article of the year and its one so very close to my heart. I somehow managed to combine Ayurvedic/Yoga philosophy with Pagan concepts and a hint of Jungian psychology.

I believe that everything is connected, not just energetically but in language and in myths and fairytales. In this article I talk about the Greek name “Kore” which is pronounced “Kor-ee” and means “Young girl, Princess, Maiden” but it looks like the English word “Core” for Apple Core which sounds like “Kaur”, the Indian/Sikh name for “Princess, Maiden”. See how language is connected? See how the myth of Persephone being the “Kore” had to find her “core” self in the underworld and thus transcend beyond the persona of Princess and become a Queen.

And so here in this article I explore how Ayurvedic concepts are not that much different to Pagan beliefs. This is a time to remeber the light within us, nutritionally we eat warming foods to stoke our Agni and the Solar Plexus but as we descend into darkness, we explore our inner radiance like the Greek goddesses Hestia, Persephone and Hecate.

I truly love writing for Rebelle Society because they allow me to be true to myself, which in turn makes me couragous with how I write. Continue reading

Reiki Article with Yogi Approved

“The word reiki is a Japanese word for “universal life force energy.” But what is reiki, exactly?

Reiki is a subtle energy therapy, commonly practiced by light touch or “layering on of hands,” either gently on the body (if patient allows) or slightly above it, bringing the hands within the auric field and other koshas (which are the 5 sheaths of the aura that are like layers of an onion of the subtle body).

In essence, reiki is the practice of administering an unseen “life force” energy (also known as prana) that flows from the universal life force, through the crown chakra and out from the hands (which act as portals) for the reiki (life force energy) to stream through to the person receiving the treatment.”

Read more here: What is Reiki?

I haven’t written for Yogi Approved in a long time and they’ve asked me to write more about the Chakras, Reiki and Crystal healing in the near future so watch this space! Continue reading

Halloween Vlog

A day with me on Halloween! A bit late I know but hey this video might make you smile? Many people have said over the years in both work and social settings that my personality is a breath of fresh air and should be shared on platforms like youtube so I am giving this a go, see what happens?
I plan to do more vlogging in the foreseeable future as on the odd occassion I do enjoy editing and making people smile. Enjoy this over a cup of tea, I hope it warms your heart.
I will post more vlogs and videos on travel, art and belly dance too.

Canggu, Bali Indonesia

Canggu, is a city in Bali known for its nightlife, beaches, the surf and resorts. Ubud is pretty much boho central, Canggu is more for the party animals, most of the tourists are Australians on their annual holiday. Although during the day there are plentiful yoga studios, Vegan cafes and holistic centres and this is where I did my yoga teacher training. This was not my favourite place although it was wonderful having sea and sand on my doorstep.

However if you want laid-back tropical escape, Canggu is the place to be. During the day it has a boho vibe, café culture, and surfer style, and by night it has very stylish clubs near the seafront to dance the night away. Located twenty minutes north of Seminyak, Canggu spans from just north of Seminyak to south of Tanah Lot. Canggu is one of the most up-and-coming areas and features an eight-kilometer-long beach and sweeping rice fields.

Bali as a whole is a very safe country to visit, even solo travellers feel super safe here. Whilst there is crime, it is very minimal and you are more likely to get attacked in London than you are in Bali.

There is less Balinese culture in Canggu though, there are more tourists in Canggu than Ubud and it feels more like Ibiza or Ayia Napa (Cyprus). So if you want to be drenched in tropical jungles, surrounded by beautiful Balinese people, temples, monkeys and flower offerings then Ubud is better suited to you. Continue reading

Ubud, Bali Indonesia

Ubud, Bali which is a well known Indonesian island. Famous for its yoga, holistic and vegan retreats and centers world wide. It is a haven for yogis and spiritual seekers.

At 34, I consider myself reasonably well travelled, I believe I have visited over 20 countries, lived in a few and backpacked around 6 destinations. So I am not being biased when I say this: Ubud, Bali has to be one of my favourite places to visit and not only that, it felt like home and I plan to go back.

Ubud stole my heart, and I am planning to go back sometime in February to mentor on a teacher training and reconnect with friends. Everywhere you turn there is beauty all around and this beauty is considered sacred by the locals. Every step you take there is a woman giving offering in her Kabiya with flowers adorning a statue, the front of the house, waterfall or family temple.

Goddess Magic

Spending time with friends in Cyprus has given me new life lessons. Bali gave me studies in all things yoga with practical tools to help me teach all I know, Australia gave me  lessons about the heart- it was an emotional experience, Cyprus has given me lessons about my soul, my past lives and my own spiritual practice.

My spiritual practice is difficult to define because it’s a mixture of things. I joke that I am a yoga witch and it’s kind of true if you break down both these words.
I love the practice of yoga and the yogic philosophy, I practice mantra and Kirtan and make offerings to Hindu goddesses and because of my trainings in Bali, I can now guide others on this path or lifestyle. BUT I also consider myself “Pagan” too and I work with the old gods of the West as well. My soul feels so connected to the Greek-Egyptian “Pagan” beliefs and I’m trying to learn more to uncover aspects of my soul and possible past lives. I’m definitely a woman of the goddess and goddess movement and a few people in Cyprus have told me I have an ancient Egyptian vibe about me. I adore learning about ancient priestesses and oracles that reside in temples all over the world, I am passionate about ancient symbols and stories that teach about life. I am in love with goddess archetypes and so on.
